Jennie Harbour

Jennie Harbour (ジェニー・ハーバー)
1888年生まれ、1953年没。
アメリカの作家、児童書イラストレーター。

1920年代から1930年代にかけて、ラファエロ・タック＆サン社 (Raphael Tuck & Son) などで活躍した。
ジェニー・ハーバーについて検索していて、Art Deco Illustrator とか great children's fairy tale book and postcard illustrators of the Art Deco era とかって表現を見かた。
ということは、ジョルジュ・バルビエ (George Barbier) やエルテ (Erté) やウンベルト・ブルネレスキ (Umberto Brunelleschi) といった、ファッション業界などで活躍したイラストレーターたちと同じ時代に活躍したイラストレーターということであり、それを踏まえてジェニー・ハーバーの作品を見返してみると、なるほどねということになる。

アール・デコ的な表現が判り易い形で描かれているのは、2枚目の "Cinderella" や3枚目の "Le Prince Chéri - Zélie et la fée Candide" あたりだろうか。
